Every barrio
needs palengke.
When Juan moved to Helsinki, the hardest part of winter wasn't the dark. It was going months without a proper bottle of cane vinegar or a bag of dried mangoes. Friends started asking him to bring things back from every trip home, and the suitcase kept getting heavier.
So in 2019 he opened Palengke ni Juan: a small, family-run shop in Kontula where Filipinos, Asian families and curious neighbours can find the flavours they grew up with. We know most of our regulars by name, and we're always happy to share a recipe tip at the till.
Salamat sa suporta! — Juan & family
